Hashtag #BlueForSudan pojawił się w anglojęzycznych social mediach niespełna tydzień temu i natychmiast zaczął się cieszyć dużą popularnością na Twitterze i Instagramie.

Sudańscy aktywiści używają go, by upamiętnić osoby, które zginęły podczas niedawnej demonstracji w Chartumie i szerzyć świadomość na temat aktualnej sytuacji w kraju.

Protesty w Sudanie zaczęły się pod koniec zeszłego roku, jako sprzeciw przeciwko pogłębiającemu się kryzysowi ekonomicznemu. Mieszkańcy Sudanu prędko uznali, że za tę sytuację odpowiada rządzący krajem od trzech dekad prezydent Omar Al-Baszir, którego w kwietniu zmuszono do zrezygnowania ze stanowiska. Były prezydent podejrzany jest także o korupcję, finansowanie terroryzmu czy zagarnięcie ziemi, a także zbrodnię przeciw ludzkości, zbrodnie wojenne i ludobójstwo w Darfurze. Wkrótce stanie przed sądem. Tymczasem władzę w kraju przejęła Tymczasowa Rada Wojskowa. Miała ona dogadać się z opozycją w sprawie dalszego rozwoju sytuacji politycznej w kraju.

Negocjacje trwały przez kilka tygodni w ministerstwie obrony w Chartumie, a przed budynkiem odbywał się protest okupacyjny.

W poniedziałek 3 czerwca protestujący zostali zaatakowani przez wojsko i policję, w wyniku czego zginęło 108 osób, a około 700 zostało rannych.

Wśród ofiar był m.in. 26-letni Mohamed Mattar. Hashtag #BlueForSudan nawiązuje właśnie do zdjęcia profilowego na Instagramie zabitego 26-latka, które było w całości niebieskie. Zaczęło się od tego, że znajomi Mohameda ustawili sobie taką samą profilówkę, następnie Shahd Khidir, sudańska blogerka i influencerka mieszkająca w Nowym Jorku, napisała na swoim Instagramie o śmierci 26-latka. Wszystko po to, by świat dowiedział się o tym, co dzieje się aktualnie w Sudanie, mimo tego, że kraj jest obecnie odłączony od internetu. Wojsko ma na sumieniu także gwałty. Jak mówi jeden z lekarzy w Chartumie, po ataku na obóz protestujących do szpitala przyjęto ponad 70 ofiar gwałtu – rzeczywisty zakres przemocy seksualnej, którego dopuszcza się wojsko nie jest jednak znany. Po tych wydarzeniach protest został zawieszony. Obecnie negocjacje między wojskiem a opozycją zostały wznowione, przy udziale etiopskiego mediatora.

My best friend was in hiding on June 2 and that’s the last time I spoke to him. He was missing for 4 days and when I got in touch with him he said: “I was caught, beaten and abused and humiliated and arrested and had my phone confiscated from me. I am injured currently.” And all I could do this post this. I am sorry to all companies I am running campaigns with but my editorial calendar is currently on pause. I am willing to refund all and everything right away. Please, just send me an email. This needs to be heard. By EVERYONE… The internet in Sudan has been blacked and blocked out in efforts to keep this vital and cruel information from the rest of the world. It makes my heart so heavy to think about the men and women in Sudan, being beaten, murdered, raped, and oppressed like this. Human beings. They are just like me and you. They want to live a good life, with their families and not be punished because of that. Nobody deserves this kind of torture and we need to show Sudan that we are here for the them and aware of the changes that need to happen. Women are being raped with their underwear publicly hung in the streets. Men being shot at with guns and not able to defend themselves…Children without their parents ..It really breaks my heart to think about that. This is happening in our world RIGHT now and we can not silence ourselves. This needs to get the attention that the people of Sudan deserve. I will be adding some websites to my story on how we can help. Donating or even just raising awareness helps, and if we all come together; we can make a difference. We love you and hear you Sudan. This is not to blame anyone , this is to only help those in need. I love everyone in this world , we need to work together.
